Life is wonderfully full in Reno, NV. I have the great fortune to be staying with a friend that I have known since we started a homeschool group together with our elementary-aged kids. I wake up to fresh fruit smoothies, espresso with steamed milk, and engaging conversation. We have floated in a hot springs, hiked, been hypnotized at a show, and ate burgers after midnight amongst a riotous crowd of kids. She has introduced me to a spunky, retired, PE instructor, two extremely cute and talented writers and radio hosts, chocolate caramels from the Chocolate Nugget Factory and Sassy Gay Friend on youtube. All this in a few days while hearing of Kathy’s passion to further the acceptance of the gay community amongst Christian churches. She is nothing like me and everything like me. We share a passion to make a difference in a world that accepts dishonesty, cruelty, and inequality with ease. In a few years she has become a force of change and I admire her guts to follow this lonely road into the political spotlight. I would never have projected that she would be a hot blogger, speaker, and one of the biggest straight voices for gay advocacy, when we were teaching our kids 20 years ago. But the fact that her path has opened up so clearly just by putting one foot in front of the other, makes me encouraged that mine is unfolding without my stressing about it. I just need to do what I love, trust fate and stay open to the magic while enjoying the diversity of the people that I meet. I cannot wait to see where I go and what I do. Watch out world, in another 20 years, you will be spellbound!
Lori, I am already spellbound! Love this–love YOU!
